DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?Reflective Roots is an out-of-network provider (OON) with most major insurance companies and does not bill insurance directly. However, Reflective Roots does have a contract for claims processing with Alma allowing us to accept most Aetna, Cigna, Optum, United Healthcare and UMR insurance plans in Minnesota and Wisconsin. To ensure you can utilize your insurance benefits, we will complete a benefits and eligibility check for you before starting your therapeutic journey with us. If you’d like, we can provide a Superbill for you to submit directly to your insurance company for OON reimbursement. You can call the Member Services number on the back of your insurance card to inquire whether reimbursement is an option for you. Helpful information and things you might want to ask when calling your insurance about out-of-network (OON) reimbursement: Does my insurance offer OON reimbursement and if so, what percentage of service fees are reimbursed? Do I have an OON deductible and if so, how much is it? How much has been met this calendar year? How and where do I submit the Superbill? Billing/CPT codes that your insurance might ask for: 90791 Initial Biopsychosocial Assessment 90834 Individual Psychotherapy (45-50 min) 90837 Individual Psychotherapy (60+ min)

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF NOT USING MY INSURANCE (CHOSING PRIVATE PAY)?There are many reasons that clients elect private pay psychotherapy services. Here are a few of the most common. Privacy: Your diagnosis and records will not be shared with your insurance nor requested by your insurance (unless you choose to submit records/receipts for reimbursement). Specialized Care: Going outside of your insurance network can allow you to see any provider you wish without the constraints of seeing someone in your network. This can open access to providers with expertise and specialized training that might not have been available in your insurance network. Fewer Limitations: Private pay services are not restricted by insurance requirements such as proving medical necessity for services, assignment of diagnosis, prior authorization/approval for services, barriers to specialized care (i.e. Brainspotting or EMDR), limited number of sessions per year, or restrictions to session length. No gap in services: If your insurance lapses or changes, there will not be a lapse in therapy services. By using private pay, we can customize and work toward therapeutic goals that are important to you.

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR A TELEHEALTH BRAINSPOTTING OR EMDR SESSION?For you personally, all you need to do is show up, be curious and follow the processing. It is helpful, however, to prepare and set up your environment in advance. The list below will help you prepare in advance and maximize your processing time in session. Find a quiet and comfortable place to meet without distractions or interruptions (i.e. pets, children, partners, workplace interruptions, environmental commotion). Place your computer or electronic device on a stable surface at eye level (computers or tablets tend to work better than phones). Have headphones or earbuds ready for both Brainspotting and EMDR. Test the sound in advance. Sometimes a scarf, bandana, buff, balaclava may be used in Brainspotting. Having something of the sort quickly accessible can be helpful. Open the music for Brainspotting in advance. David Grand’s BioLateral Sound Healing music is available on Spotify and YouTube. Avoiding commercials on either platform allows for best processing.
